More About the Event
January 22

Legislative Event at Shawboro Elementary School, Shawboro, NC
On January 22nd, select students from Currituck, Dare, and Carteret counties will present NC elected officials with nearly a thousand letters requesting that North Carolina add a horse to its list of state symbols. The students don’t want just ANY horse; they want the Colonial Spanish Mustang. North Carolina has two wild herds in Currituck and Carteret counties. Students did research in the areas of state and local history, as well as science, in order to write their letters. The Fund created a PowerPoint presentation and took a rescued CSM to three sites in Currituck and Dare counties. Hopefully legislation will be submitted in the next few months. Write your legislator and express your support! Read letters from the Governor and Lt. Governor of the state of North Carolina!
